Miles Between Us is a collection based narrative game centered around going on a roadtrip with your older brother who’s leaving for college. The game is a mix of exploration, dialogue, mini games and sandbox-style scrapbooking.
Featured at Magfest & PAX East
Miles Between Us was my senior thesis made in collaboration with Alex Ericta, Victoria Hatala-Slupsky and Shey Bala

As co-programmer I worked on gameplay and system implementation, developing a persistent journal system with a state-machine and flexible scene managers controlling audio, cutscenes and fetch quests as scriptable objects. I also programmed our stealing mechanics and journal editing system.
Scalable Stealing
Our stealing system is flexible to edit, allowing for changes in difficulty level adjusting the speed of state changes and buffer time for registering incorrect input.

Journaling
Players access the journal with different inputs and features depending on scene state:
Example
Car Mode:
- can edit journal
- accessed through click interaction
- X To Do List
Exploration Mode:
- scene To Do List
- accessed through key input
- X editable items
Flexible Interaction
Other features we implemented were:
- dialogue in world space with cinemachine
- first and third person perspective
